The Gamification Research Network (GRN) is a communication hub for academic and industry researchers and students interested in studying the use of game design in non-game contexts. It was launched in November 2010 alongside the call for participation for a one-day workshop on the topic at the CHI 2011 conference.
The purpose of the GRN is to further research in the area by providing a repository of people, projects, and publications, and by offering a shared space of discussion and publication. It features a shared blog and bibliography and the GRN mailing list, which has more than 250 subscribed verified researchers and has become the main channel of reaching gamification researchers around the globe.
The GRN is currently hosted and administered by Sebastian Deterding, visiting professor at the Rochester Institute of Technology MAGIC Lab.
