CHI 2013 Workshop Designing Gamification
How to submit
Submissions are now closed.
We invite interested participants to submit a 3-4 page position paper relating to designing gamification in the CHI extended abstract format (word template, LaTeX template) to Sebastian Deterding at chi2013@gamification-research.org. Please add a 50-word biography of the author attenting the workshop in the e-mail body. Position papers are welcome to address, but not limited to topics such as:
- Postmortems, lessons learned, recurrent challenges and issues encountered in the design of gameful systems
- Design models, principles, methods, tools, and evaluation methods adapted from interaction and game design
- General and domain-specific constraints, opportunities, facilitating and success-critical conditions of gamification
Instead of a position paper, researchers and practitioners with first-hand experience in designing a gameful system may alternatively submit a slide deck (PDF) detailing their experience and observations, e.g. as a postmortem on the design process of a project. To prepare your slide deck, just fill out the following PowerPoint template or Keynote template.
Papers and slide decks will undergo a peer-jury process and 15-20 will be selected, with preference to submissions based on actual experience in designing a gameful system. We intend to publish all material publicly on the workshop website. Please contact us at the above e-mail if you have any questions or reservations, e.g. regarding sensitive business information or NDA-covered material.
Submission deadline for all material is January 11 18 (NEW), 2013. At least one author of each accepted paper needs to register for the workshop and for one or more days of the conference. Also note that we may have to limit participation to one attendant per paper or slide deck.
